Why Choose New Capitol IT?
I founded New Capitol IT (NCIT) in January of 2013 after a long and successful career in the information technology industry – most of which was in Tallahassee leading Unisys and ACS/Xerox teams selling to the State of Florida. I held numerous titles over the years, account executive, branch sales manager, vice president and senior vice president but at the end the day, I was always responsible for sales. I carried a quota for 37 years.
As a lobbyist and sales consultant, I specialize in helping IT firms be more successful in selling to the State of Florida. I help my clients develop and execute effective sales strategies, establish effective teaming alliances and build high-level client relationships with Florida government. I help them sell more. My background and my value proposition are quite different from most lobbyists. I have never worked for the government but I know Florida government well – and I know how to sell.
I have been a Tallahassee resident and business leader for three decades. Over the years, I have worked closely with Florida leaders, industry, and stakeholder organizations to advocate for better policy, practices and technology-based approaches to business problems in order to achieve more efficient and cost-effective government operations in the State of Florida.
I am a trusted advisor to some of Florida’s most well-known and respected business and service organizations. I served on the Florida TaxWatch Cost Savings Task Force for 3 years and served as chairman of the IT Legislative Affairs Committee for Associated Industries of Florida (AIF). I served on numerous boards including the Challenger Learning Center, Florida TaxWatch, the Big Bend Minority Chamber of Commerce and Associated Industries of Florida. I am an active member of the Good Samaritan United Methodist Church in Tallahassee.
My opinions on IT issues and governance in Florida have appeared in the Tallahassee Democrat, Florida Trend, Florida Today and CONTEXTFLORIDA. I have been a featured guest on Florida Public Radio.
I began my career in Phoenix, Arizona with Burroughs Corporation (now Unisys) and held positions in Las Vegas, Miami, Philadelphia, Jacksonville and Tallahassee. However, for most of my career I have lived and worked in Tallahassee. Immediately prior to founding New Capitol IT, I served as Senior Vice President and Florida Client Executive for Xerox Services (previously ACS).
I received my BS degree in business administration from the University of Southern Mississippi and my MBA from the American Graduate School of International Management. I live in Tallahassee with my wife, Madelin, and have two grown children, Brian and Jamie, and one awesome granddaughter, Karis.
